working with a friend who's having trouble with MA over ethernet between her old G4 Pbook and her new MBP.
I've sent her tons of info and links and will soon TeamView her.
Is there something out of the ordinary about this process with ethernet?
Tiger on the Pbook and, I can only assume, Snow on the MBP.

"Doctor, I've got a pain."

"Where does it hurt?"

"Is that relevant?"

...

What kind of trouble?

Describe what she's doing step-by-step. At what point in the process does "trouble" occur?

I've watched her start up MA on both machines.
It's "preparing information".

How long should that take over ethernet?

depending on the age of her G4 powerbook, it might only have 100BT = pretty slow

if shes got a healthy amount of info -- it could take many, many hours...

I have also seen it take hours once you get "one minute remaining" when using Ethernet. Usually force quit MA and the data will be transferred.

Both have Firewire, why not use that?

she's in the boonies.
the MBP doesn't have a FW400 only 800.
But she may have to order the adapter to make this go

"she may have to order the adapter to make this go"

It will come in handy later, as well.
