Disable AOL/AIM Update Notifcations?
#1
My mom uses the old AIM 4.6 client rather than a new AIM client because the old one has a stock ticker that she's quite attached to.

Lately, whenever she logs into AIM she gets an obnoxious IM from AOLSystemMsg telling her that there's a new version of the software available. The message repeats periodically after dismissing it and that screen name can't be blocked.

I do not get any such messages when I log into AIM using the same version of the AIM client, but under my own screen name.

I've poked through all the pref's and can't find anything about disabling update-notifications, yet clearly there's a setting somewhere that distinguishes my AIM account from hers and keeps me from getting those obnoxious messages.

'Anyone know what and where the setting might be?

AIM doesn't use cookies.

I think it's probably a privacy setting hidden behind some arcane keyword on AOL.
