Wimpy Culture - Voting scandal! AHT voters install Wendy's as best chain burger!
#1
A poll of A Hamburger Today readers sent shock waves throughout the burger community when results put Wendy's at the top of the burger chain food chain with rival Burger King coming in a distant second. In and Out Burger? Left languishing under the heat lamps of "None of the Above".

One voter told exit pollers, "I love McDonald's. I don't quite understand where all the disrespect comes from... Numbers don't lie and there's a reason they're #1. They create flavors we all can relate to, and every one in awhile, crave.... Believe it or not, I don't think In and Out is "all that". Frankly it's a little baffling. What are they famous for, an extremely simplified menu, a 50's atmosphere, non-frozen ingredients, and overrated burgers and fries."

The final numbers-
Wendy's 31%
Burger King 18%
McDonald's 12%
Carl's Jr / Hardee's 11%
Sonic Drive-In 8%
Jack in the Box 5%

None of the above 14%

A hamburger today? Well, I guess there's a food blog for everyone.

Issue #122 of Saveur magazine has some interesting ideas for burgers.

Like the Rossini burger which is topped with foie gras and truffles.

I have to place my vote based on the chains that are actually available around here. So, no vote for In 'N Out from me. As for A&W, any memories I have are from decades ago when I might get a hot dog to go with a mug of root beer. Now the closest one to me is around a 100 mile trip each way. Most of the other non-Big Three are even farther away.

rallys/checkers have improved, imo.

I wouldn't expect a regional chain like In-N-Out to garner too many votes in a national poll.

Yeah, I've never had In-N-Out here on the east coast.

From that list my vote would probably go to Burger King, although it's a tough decision.

Some things to know about In N Out Burger and why I ma a fan:

They butcher their own meat from chunks of beef they buy, they know the source unlike bigger chains with several suppliers that mash lower and higher quality meats together. The patty creation is a closed system and meat is never frozen.

No preservatives in the buns. Shakes are made with real dairy not

Tomatoes, potatoes and lettuce prepared at the store not precut and shipped. They don't chemically alter their fries.

Employees start at $10 an hour with some managers making almost 6 figures. The employees have benefits and are less likely to be on government assistance.

Their merchandising supports the In-N-Out Burger Foundation to help abused and neglected children.

Carl's Jr. is not the same as Hardee's.

Carl's Jr. is great. It's much better than Hardees in just about every respect except location. (We need Carl's Jr. on the East coast!)

They are owned by the same parent corporation and Hardees has gotten similar decor to Carl's Jr. recently, but they have different menus and they use different suppliers with very different quality of ingredients.
