I hope "TabletMac" isn't on our future.

Axiotron originally began marketing the devices as a "TabletMac" as referenced in this 2007 press release and filed a trademark for the term. Sometime in the past year, however, the trademark was transferred from Axiotron to Apple, and Apple is now listed as the owner of the trademark.

As much as some people hated the name MacBook, it didn't bother me. But TabletMac sounds-- awkward at best.

I hope Apple has a better name planned.

Maybe MacTablet? Would follow the convention of Mac and then... Book, BookPro, Pro.

How 'bout "MacSlate?"

Or, maybe "MacSheet" b/c I'm sure Steve will emphasize how paper thin the thing is.

Or, to carry that example further, "MacSkin&Bones."

iThneed.

I'm being quite useful. This thing is a Thneed.
A Thneed's a Fine-Something-That-All-People-Need!
It's a shirt. It's a sock. It's a glove. It's a hat.
But it has OTHER uses. Yes, far beyond that.
You can use it for carpets. For pillows! For sheets!
Or curtains! Or covers for bicycle seats!"
