This Walmart Wii and $50 GC - any experience?
#1
So hows this work exactly?

Anyone here participated in this type of store promotion?

Articles say the deal starts at 8 am on Saturday and another post stated that each store was limited to 10 units.

Are the units sitting on a pallet covered up until 8 am? Do I need to be camped out next to it at 5 am?

Weigh in please
Thanks

The deal extends from the 5th through the 12th and each store is likely to have decent stock since Nintendo's manufacturing has caught up with demand.

Still, the earlier you get there the more likely you are to find one in stock.

A buddy and I are considering getting up on a Saturday to see if we can get this. Aside from the Wii itself, what other accessories would I need? I'll be interested in the exercise routine/program.

yes, when the WiiFit came out last Christmas it put the console on our "wish list".

Now that its a bit lower in price I think we can swing it as the big "Santa" item this year for the family. Money always gets really tight when the summer jobs end and that GC would certainly make it easier.

I did the XBOX 360 arcade $199 (with $100) gift card.

Showed up at 6:30-ish (5 in line) by 8am there were about 50.

They allowed us to pick out what we wanted at 7:45am. They started at the head of the line and worked to the end. I even got the HP laptop deal for $298.

At my Wallyworld they would let you use the $100 gift card on the spot...making the XBOX $99 !

I reccomend going early and planning on getting in line....

Don,

Depends on who will be using it. The wii-fit comes with an 'ok' program (though the hula-hoop is OUTRAGEOUSLY FUNNY when watching someone else do it..) There are several 'workout' games and some 'action' (skiboard) games.

Accesories needed? The 'sports pack' is a must have..comes with really good games (bowling and tennis) and an extra controller. Nintendo nickel and dimes you by making you buy the wii controller AND nunchuck AND old school controller for different games. You wind up with as much in the controllers as the console (we have 4 kids). The included IR bar is ok...but one of the enhanced wireless ones are MUCH better (another $30-$40). That's about ALL you need to get started.
We got the "Iron Chef" game (my wife was a pastry chef for 25 years) and it was a simple but fun to play. Carnival games is fun too.

If you do get Wii Fit you may also want to pick up Wii Fit Plus, more games and extended workouts. You can run in place for up to twenty minutes, we just bought a mini trampoline to make the running more fun.

Wii Sports Resort is a lot of fun, we enjoy the archery and the golf. You can buy it with either one Wii Motion Plus, or for $10.00 more you can buy the one with two Motion Plus, the Motion Plus by itself normally runs $20.00.

I'm interested in Wii Active, It looks like more of a workout than the Wii Fit game, but I haven't tried it yet.

I was under the impression that the software that comes with the Wii Fit now is actually the old stuff *plus* the Wii Fit Plus additions. I thought the stand-alone Wii Fit Plus software was just for people like me who bought Wii Fit prior to the release of the Plus additions. You ought to check on that.

Looks like you can buy the Will Fit balance board with Wii Fit Plus, we had ours since they first came out, so Wii Fit Plus was an add on.
