Snowing in Houston!
#1
Wife and kids came back just in time (yesterday) to experience the snow (which is actually accumulating).

Don't want to imagine Houston drivers on the streets today.

Facebook is getting overloaded with friends posting pics and videos of the snow.

I was in New Orleans when it snowed on Christmas morning a few years ago. Even more rare there than in Houston. (Well, maybe not more rare, but just as rare.) Kids loved it.

I've watched southerners try to drive in snow. Not pretty. :-)
To be fair even some Northerners sometimes need a quick refresher course with the first snowfall.

The snow missed Austin, but over reaction and panic did not. Employers were closing early to get employees home....and at the moment there is beautiful sunshine and blue skies overhead. You can all imagine what really happens when it does snow.

I was not in N.O. on that recent snow, but lived there for the 2004 Christmas Day snow. Quite lovely.

Have had a few snow days since moving to the Little Rock area. Lots of fun with the kids. The schools they go to know that, when it snows, my kids won't be at school (both because it's so new to us and because I have never really driven in it, and no day at school is worth the possibility of a wreck).

Have also had a few ice days, and you can sure as hell keep those. Smile

>>and because I have never really driven in it,

next time it snows, find a nearby parking lot.

or don't. maybe the ability to drive in snow is acquired from the environment in childhood.

Did that with my son when we had a snow. Took him to a big lot and had him practice various maneuvers. Don't think he's been in snow since.
