Uh huh. I remember that trip to the west coast you're going to take. This new gizmo for the kitty is really to help you avoid paying for somebody to come and take care of kitty while you're gone, isn't it? Be honest now.

I'm not a fan of auto-feeders. The ones I've seen allow cats to over-eat, and also allow the food to get stale. Two that I have seen were in the homes of people whose cats were already overweight, and one of the feeders was in desperate need of cleaning, as was the cat's slimy auto-filling water bowl.

If this is to tide kitty over while you're gone: get a pet sitter instead. The auto-feeder won't do squat if your cat has an emergency while you're gone. If it's because you don't want to take a few seconds twice a day to dispense a measured amount of food, well, sheesh.

I know people who can check in but only once every 2-3 days. yes, most autofeeders perform quite poorly along nearly any standard one could apply to them but this one appears to get high marks all around.

maybe i don't know anything about pet sitters, but i can hardly just "go get" one.

I knew it!! Smile

I can't be too critical about leaving kitties home, although it got hard to find anybody to take care of ours. She was so mean that she'd usually sit on the back of a chair by the front door and attack the people who came to feed her. She was not a nice kitty. She is why I don't have a kitty.

I'm so sorry that you have no friends*, Matt

*In case you're unaware, a friend is a person who will feed your kitteh while you are enjoying the hedonistic pleasures to be had in the beautiful SF Bay Area and will accept without complaint a lousy T-shirt as payment.

My cat Mickey would have that unit "dismantled" and it's contents consumed an hour after I left and gorge himself to be left with no food. Do they make a hermetically sealed Titanium version?

Everything I have read would lead you to believe this is it.

Hmmmm...I would definitely need to secure the unit to the wall because it would be attacked with vigor!

Thanks for the tip!

How many days will you be gone?

My rule of thumb is that if I'm going away for 4 days or less I'll just put out extra food and water, but for more than 4 days I'll board my cat at the vet.
