I tried to downlaod one of the free Apps. It told me it required latest and greatest iTunes. I opened the software update and yes, there was a newer version of iTunes. I think I was running 7 or 8 before, I am not sure. Anyway, I updated the iTunes.

Now when iTunes opens and wants to connect to the iTunes store, it tells me it needs Safari 4.0.3.

Where do I get safari 4.0.3 for PPC, 10.4.11?

I'm running Safari 4.0.4 on a TiBook with 10.4.11, Got it via Software Update.

Runs fine.

Edit: actually, it's having a problem with not loading QuickTime properly, but I think that's either a QuickTime or a Perian issue.

Good luck.

thanks, after running several updates, and a restart, when I run the software update again, then Safari 4.0.4. showed up.

It was that simple. Downloading right now.

Maybe Apple had some hierarchy of what it wanted you to install first, or maybe Software Update has a cache that needed to be cleared.

Anyway, glad you've got it sorted out.

I recall trying to install Safari 4 on my Dapple (Dell mini with MacOS) running 10.5.6 and it says it won't install unless I update to 10.5.8. What's that all about? I really don't want to go to 10.5.8.

Maybe has something to do with a Java or QuickTime component which requires the OS update?

Why don't you want to go to 10.5.8?

Good luck.

It's stable at 10.5.6 and I prefer to let sleeping dogs lie. Firefox works.
