iPods vs. iPod Touch?
#1
What percentage of iPods in current use are iPod Touches? Still a small minority I would suspect.

I ask because I came across a Web site which listed instructions for uploading photos directly from an iPhone or an "iPod".

Clearly they had to mean an iPod Touch which has internet access and email like the iPhone, but since many iPod models can hold and display photos, might the less knowledgeable iPod owner read that and take it to mean that they could upload photos from their iPod?

I think the Web site owes it to their customers to take a few moments to correct their wording.

there are definitely many more iPods in the filed than iPod Touches, but I guess that will change soon. If I were to buy an iPod these day, I would definitely buy an iPod Touch. I would not even consider a simple iPod, well, maybe a shuffle, but no way I could buy an iPod classic or Nano these days. the Apps are so much fun.

Can't not imagine having my 'Touch. I just need a 64gb version now. AND I want an iPad.

Our iPod touches have totally replaced the uses of our standard iPods - and become indispensable tools/toys.

I cannot imagine purchasing a standard iPod today when you get so much for your money with even the low-end iPod touch. 8GB is a LOT of space for most people except for movies.

Yep, I love my iPod touch! 8 GB model, with hundreds of free books on it, about 100 songs, 100 photos, no videos yet, and still have over 5 GB free. Also has 36 programs on it. These things are great! And, I hardly ever go anywhere lately that doesn't have open wifi. Especially now that I am on ATT DSL, I can log on to my ATT wifi access almost anywhere. Definitely a benefit of having ATT DSL at home now.

The way I explain it is that the iPod touch is the same as iPhone except for the Edge/3G (internet access anywhere you can get an ATT phone signal - many people just do not seem to get this!) chip and camera. In other words, iPhone without phone and camera = iPod touch... now, just wait for the iPad. All the above (no phone, but 3G option for internet access anywhere ATT signal is available), plus iWork, etc., and who knows what else will be coming for it!

If I were to chose between the two, I would get a Touch. I do not have a large library of mp3 music, and the apps/games/communications aspects of the touch are pretty cool.

If my iPod touch broke- I would buy a new one the next day. I even use it as a remote for my home theatre Mac mini using Air Mouse

I upgraded to a Touch when they first came out and have never looked back.

The iPod Touch is a game changer for me. It is my pocket-sized calendar, address book, notepad, a container for documents with static information like my medical history, my English and multi-language dictionaries, my music player and photo album, a pocket sized Kindle, a calculator, a mouse for my HTPC Mac Mini, my Internet radio, my pocket-sized Internet browser and email client. Oh wow, other than that it isn't much use.
