Trying to IChat with my dad's new iMac - I can see him but not hear him.

HIs mic is on and not muted, but I still can't hear him. Any ideas?

Both of you run the iChat Connection Doctor and have a look at your capabilities.

All green checks, everywhere. Both have internal microphones turned on. Neither has Mute activated.

Next, go into yours and his Sound pref's.

Confirm that you have your internal speakers set to audio output and that he's got the internal microphone set for input.

Click on a "sound effect" (error sound) to make sure that audio is playing through your speakers.

I have found that If I start the iChat with a comcast person I have the same problem. If they start the Video chat every thing works fine. I suspect a port issue. Have Dad initiate the chat.

Add these Apple test sites to each of our buddy lists and start an audio chat. You should see/hear a Mac commercial.

I tried those and they never worked for me. Do you need a Mac (me?) account, or it should also work with a gtalk account?
