I'm trying to save bucks, so here's were I am so far (all include shipping):
Item My Price Newegg Price
New Q9550 $170 $249
ICorsair VX550 $55.00 $92 (after $10 rebate)
Antec Sonata v2 $20 v3 $116
I'm still looking for a deal on the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P, and I've got to figure out what I'm doing for a video card. And I'll pick up a couple of 1TB hard drives on sale.
So far, so good!

I'm really surprised that no one is selling "Hackintosh" kits. All the pieces sold individually, but collected in one place for a known working Hackintosh configuration. We've seen what happens if you sell the computer assembled, but maybe just refer to them as 'Fruit Friendly' PC kits, or something like that.

You should at least price out i7 and i5 setups. The Q9550 is pretty long in the tooth. i7 920's are in the same general price range--but admittedly, the board and RAM are going to be pricier than the versions you're looking at.

:agree: with the i5/i7 scheme, especially if you're going to buy new RAM.
MicroCenter sells the Q9550 in-store for $180 + tax.
As noted above, the Core i7 920 is only $20 more!

Thanks, folks. I considered and passed on the i5/i7. And after looking long and hard on the numbers, it's a wash, other than the hyperthreading piece. The real upside of i5/i7 is the future proofing, which isn't a big issue for me in this case.
