Recommendations for a new web host
#1
Looking for a new web host and wondering which companies my fellow forum visitors are using. My needs are modest, a couple of sites, no shopping carts, scripts, ect, just the basics.

I know people have mixed views but I do enjoy dreamhost.com. I've not had any major issues with them and I love that I have unlimited storage and bandwidth for $120/month since I run many clients off my web space and invoice them an incredibly minimal cost for unlimited hosting per year (usually $25-$50/year, so with just 3-4 clients my space is paid for).

Works great with WordPress, Sandvox and iWeb sites (in addition to completely custom created sites).

a2hosting.com

and

hostgator.com

are two hosts that i use and recommend frequently. Have been with HG for about 7 years now, and A2 for about 2. Both are great options and offer competitive pricing.

I just saw that wordpress has 50 gigs or something for some crazy ned price of $5 or $10/month.

I use total choice hosting and it's about $45/year. My needs are similar to yours. About 3 years now and never any issues. At all.

^^ Drew means $120/yr (actually it's $108/yr)

Dreamhost has been fair for a while. They had a couple years of rough patches. I've been using them since 1997. I also have a Pair account. I really enjoy Pair but they're certainly more expensive. Maybe PairLite would be an option for you.

I've been quite happy with http://hostpc.com/ for the past few years. Very reasonable rate plans, good support and quite reliable. I can't remember the last time my sites (or email) were down.

any of the top 6 would be fine -- it really doesnt matter, they all offer about the same service and features for the same amount of money, give or take a buck

I use hostrocket, not on that list, but never a problem for me in the last 6-7+ years.
