Question about Best Buy's Recycling Program (RE: G3 iMac CRTs)
#1
Does anyone here know if Best Buy accepts things like bare CRTs for recycling?

I have several G3 iMacs that have given up the ghost and I'd like to take 'em apart and do something with the shells but I don't want the CRT and associated electronics to end up in a landfill - if Best Buy will take the CRT and my $10 in exchange for a $10 Best Buy gift card I'd say we have a deal (or 2 or 3 or 12) Big Grin

I keep meaning to stop by BB to ask but haven't gotten around to it yet...

Excerpt: Three items per household per day...Nearly everything electronic, including tube TVs and monitors up to 32"...We charge $10 for televisions and monitors, but you immediately receive a $10 Best Buy gift card good toward future purchase.

I doubt they will. There is a safety issue there.

this might be obvious but you'd want to leave them in some sort of box and make sure you've discharged the capacitors. otherwise some poor best buy slave might be knocked on his a$$

Yeah, I planned on discharging the CRTs and putting a couple of 'em in a sturdy cardboard box Smile
