Netbook as video player
#1
So I hackintoshed a Dell 10v to use on a trip as a video player with Front Row (mostly for a toddler.)

I'm currently playing videos off the hard disk, but was wondering if I copied the files to a 8GB SD card instead and used the 10v's SD card slot,

1) would it increase battery life, playing off of SD versus the hard disk?
2) would it decrease heat, since the hard disk should spin down after a little bit?

i've played movies off the internal HD, and an SD card, and notice no meaningful difference. No benefit I've seen.

Might make a slight difference in battery. Should make a bigger difference in usability and convenience. How do you get movies on there now? Then again, I use my mini 9 the same way, but I'm much more constrained by the internal storage than you are with a HD instead of flash memory.

I have no space issues with a 160GB 2.5" drive. Thought it might make more of a battery/heat difference but it doesn't sound like it would do much. I'm sure the lion's share of video playback is the CPU/display.
