To discourage homeowners from junking their pets, our local food bank recently added a new program to offer pet food. We will contribute as much as we can. So which bang for the buck brand is recommendable? Tia

Both NutraNuggets and the Kirkland brand are good ones.

The Kirkland Lamb and Rice is a good brand and was suggested by my vet when I had "Bud"

Our cats like the cat Nutra Nuggets just fine. My old cats (now with the Ex) ate the KS brand, but preferred the Iams.

If not, or if you're not sure, you might want to buy smaller bags and get more mileage out of your contribution. I understand the large bags are certainly cheaper by the pound, but that might not be the best choice in a case like this. Each week some grocery store has brand name dog food on sale, so maybe you should wait for a good deal on smaller bags?

Thanks for the suggestion tho'.

Our food bank does that - I see big 40 lb bags coming in - I know they only give out a week's supply to each person.

I have had a number of vets say that the Kirkland food is a quality food, and it's also a great value. We get the Lamb and Rice. I remember one of the vets saying that it's higher in nutritional content than the other one (chicken)? But that they are still both good foods.

Kirkland Lamb and Rice. Have been using it for years.
