Just curious: MB Air?
#1
Was just on the refurb site ordering an MBP to replace my PB G4 and noticed Airs. I'd nearly forgotten them! I don't see many posts about them and wondered who here owns one and are they being ignored for the iPad?

Don't own any but support a number of them and the owners love them. A couple carry them for health reasons (bad shoulder/back). My recommendations after setting up a number for them:

Only consider the SSD. The tiny HD in these is way too slow when asked to do more than 1 thing at a time.
If you get a refurb, get at least a 2nd gen one with the 1066 bus/RAM. These have noticeably better performance.

Otherwise they're great if you choose to afford them vs. a regular MacBook.

What if Apple decided to merge the MBAir and the iPad? You'd have a notebook computer that could last 10+ hours with a real keyboard. That idea has some legs.

If nothing else, Apple could offer a slightly speed bumped Core 2 Duo, that newer NVIDIA chipset from the new MacBook/MacBook Pros, and 4GB RAM. A 7 hour battery life would be nice.

Edit: And stock config should include the SSD. Move the Air to one $1499 tier, anything else is a BTO.

Don't know, I sure wish there was an update. The Air is certainly due.

Can't hurt to wait until June 7 WWDC. Could be one more thing....

That idea doesn't make any sense.

Give the MBA a 10hr battery. None.

Give the iPad a "real" keyboard and you've just lost most of its utility. There are already separate keyboards available for the 'Pad. That's the way it should be.
