do you flush the toilet (urinal) before using?
#1
I am constantly amazed at how many people automatically do this as soon as they walk up to the toilet or urinal. Do they really believe that the water sitting there now is somehow contaminated and not worthy of accepting their waste?

What a crazy waste of water.

(I'm not talking about stuff in the bowl, mind you...)

Nah. Only if someone else's leftovers are still in there. :booty: Yuck.

On a related note, I sometimes forget to flush at home now because all of the toilets and urinals at work auto-flush with a motion sensor. Even the soap & water and paper towels dispense with motion sensors now, but I haven't caught myself waiting for the soap to squirt into my hands at home yet.

Typing that just made me wonder how much those new motion-sensor gizmos in the restrooms have contributed to the fact that I didn't get sick this winter at all, not once, which is a first.

Do you really believe that everybody flushes after each use and that even if they don't it smells like rose water?

Unless they're auto flushing (and you'd be surprised how many times they're not working) I flush first. It's become a habit because very often bathroom gear and/or people don't function properly.

Umm, no. Only if it needs it, you know?

The behavior I don't understand is when someone will flush multiple times while sitting on the toilet.

Perhaps the collective wisdom of the forum can elucidate.

Not that it's a burning issue.

Well, hopefully, it's not a burning issue.

the flushing multiple times is probably in direct relation to the stinkage factor.

a three flush event could mean indian food and beer was last night's dinner.

I always thought that "pre-flush" was so that the sound of flowing water can help get the "stream" started in those with enlarged prostates.

I never thought it was for any kind of sanitary reason!

that is interesting, I did not know that, maybe it explains a few odd pre-flushes.

well, at least one individual here has owned up to the fact that he will only urinate into 100% clean water. one would not one's pee mixing with someone else's pee before being flushed down the drain, now would one?!?
