Unexplained activation of Junk Mail filter

all of a sudden, thread alert emails from macresource are winding up in my me.com junk folder. i rarely log in online but did just go there and junk mail filtering isn't even enabled. and real junk mail, though rare. gets a pass and winds up in my Apple Mail inbox.

why is this happening now and how can i stop it? previously, the thread emails simply showed up in my inbox.
