Europeans propose probing Uranus - Spock - 02-17-2014 European astronomers are arguing for an ambitious twin-probe mission to Neptune and Uranus with a launch date of 2034. https://medium.com/the-physics-arxiv-blog/d438f4d6d75c It may be 20 years in the future but I hope they are successful. Re: Europeans propose probing Uranus - OWC Jamie - 02-17-2014 I hope they start in Florida Re: Europeans propose probing Uranus - freeradical - 02-17-2014 What is a "good fist"? Re: Europeans propose probing Uranus - RE:up - 02-17-2014 Yes, but first the Klingons circling Uranus will need to be removed. Re: Europeans propose probing Uranus - Paul F. - 02-17-2014 I'm going to pass up the cheap jokes... too easy... With a flight date of 2034, they'd be looking at an arrival between 2044 and 2050 - Uranus and Nepture are a LONG trip! I'd say, step up the planning and building, and get them on their way sooner. But that's just me. Re: Europeans propose probing Uranus - cbelt3 - 02-17-2014 Actual source paper here (pdf). This is a 'case proposal', not a project plan. http://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1402/1402.2650.pdf Also technically 'astrophysicists' , cosmologists, and planetary scientists, not 'astronomers'. But most folk don't know the difference. Yes, it'd also depend on the top stage booster, but still... |
