Should I buy a waffle iron? - CJsNvrUrly - 01-30-2016 I love waffles. Cooking? Not so much. I keep seeing recipes to cook in a waffle iron that look soooo good, I am tempted. Have you used one to make anything other than waffles? Are they versatile? What's a good one to buy? Re: Should I buy a waffle iron? - sekker - 01-30-2016 We love our waffle iron. Was a wedding gift, 27 years ago. Haven't a clue what to get today! Re: Should I buy a waffle iron? - mrbigstuff - 01-31-2016 only if it's a true Belgian-style waffle iron, and not one just labeled as such. (it has to have waffling pattern that is quite large, typically like a restaurant style iron.) Re: Should I buy a waffle iron? - numbered - 01-31-2016 We use ours, and it is easy to whip up a batch. The kids do it. (They also make a few extra and freeze them for weekday breakfasts.) The Sweet Home gives their recommendation. We have a smaller one they also like as the "budget" pick and it works great. Re: Should I buy a waffle iron? - Fritz - 01-31-2016 I wouldn't say they're versatile, but they make goood stuff. We paid $30 for an earlier version Cusinart. Had it for a few years now. Non-stick, no-spray. Does a good job, although it's indicator lights are kind of dumb. It makes 4 at a clip, 4x4 squares. Then we make 'em from a multi-grain mix and a malted mix combined. Re: Should I buy a waffle iron? - MrNoBody - 01-31-2016 Bought a B&D WMB500 six years ago for $20 from Kmart. Here's the Amazon page for it. Has held up fine & makes great waffles. One thing I discovered is to coat the plates very lightly with Canola oil. Makes for a very crispy bake  Re: Should I buy a waffle iron? - datbeme - 01-31-2016 An Amazon search tells me we've had this one since Christmas of 2009. Nothing fancy, but we've been happy with it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TYBWIG Re: Should I buy a waffle iron? - datbeme - 01-31-2016 datbeme wrote: Bonus is that it stores vertically when you flip the plastic lever that locks the griddles in an upright position. Re: Should I buy a waffle iron? - 3d - 01-31-2016 If you get a waffle iron be sure it's one that FLIPS. The flipper ones cook more evenly, light and crispy. The non-flipping waffle irons are kinda ho-hum in comparison.
