I ordered an adapter and a 8-pin USB cable combo from Amazon for $11. The adapter only supports charging and no audio. When I attempt to charge the iPhone with the cable, my iPhone reads "charging not supported with this device" or something like that.
Amazon has an authorized Lighting cable that works for everything... A USB cable, not a 30-pin adapter. It's Amazon-branded.

This is the only one in stock. Buy more than one to spread your shipping cost. They come with a lifetime warranty. And they stand behind their cables. I have recently replaced two old 30pin cables from my original ipad from two years ago. And HDMI cables older than that. There is no hidden fees associated with getting you replacement cables either.

I got one (8pin to 30 pin) from Amazon.
Works great (only for charging - you need Apple's for sound), but is a bit fat and doesn't insert as easily as the Apple one.
