Great shots!

I had no idea that only 1/600s would stop the wings.

I would have thought 1/1000s minimum would be needed.

Well done.

Great patience and good planning.

Thx! I should have written it as "a 1600th" of a second, tho. Writing fractions can be confusing.

Great shot. I almost never see hummers in my neck of the woods, so I can't even get a chance at them. Next time, try using flash to help freeze the action. Although at 1/1600, it's pretty fast shutter.

Ah, that makes more sense, not that I knew any better, but it just seemed like a faster shutter speed would be needed.

And still, a great shot.

My buddy lives in a slightly rural part of the city. His wife would hang these little bags of seed and a humming bird feeder in a tree outside a large picture window. There'd be tons of finches and an occasional humming bird getting sustenance.

Then they got a very active, little Lab. She is noisy and always moving, but ignores the birds and deer as though they don't exist. They apparently don't reciprocate. I no longer see any finches or hummers. I don't think it's coincidental.

The dog is great but I do miss the birds.
