So if I would go to our friendly Apple store today, they wouldn't sell me one even though they might have them in the back? The iPod Classic was pulled from the shelves yesterday at 3PM?

What would be the best place to buy an iPod Classic at this time?

Can't say. But GameStop (online) is still a decent way to find a used iPod. Don't have any experience doing so however.

Back around 2007-8 a vendor gave me a 60gb iPod Video. Still using it today as my white noise generator docked in a Philips clock radio.

I still use a 5th gen 60 GB and a 5.5 gen 80 GB.

Note the icon Apple uses on their store page.

My 120GB is a backup / data transportation drive. I should probably sell it on the phorum. I haven't used it for music since I got an iPhone three years ago. We've also got two iPod Touches and a iPod Shuffle sitting around the house unused for the same reason.

I'm pleased that the end of the Hard Drive on Apple products is fast approaching. The fewer moving parts, the better reliability is.

It's been almost two years since there was a new Touch, and it only has a 64 GB capacity . Is it up next on the chopping block?

Re: End of an era: Pod Classic discontinued - deckeda - 09-10-2014

The Touch may indeed be unecessary. It's a great "teen" solution but more and more young teens and some pre-teens are instead getting hand-me-down smartphones.

An Android-phone friend uses an iPod Classic, probably because he likes iTunes on his PC. And using that click-wheel interface is still an excellent way to navigate music.

I am still using my 60GB and i love the interface. I can't say I love the one on my iPhone at all.
