The 10 year old climbs El Capitan, not Half Dome.
El Capitan is 3,000 feet of sheer cliff, and a huge accomplishment.
Half Dome (not the face) is more of a long hike, with no rock climbing experience or gear needed.
I did it years ago and it was awesome!!!
I rock climbed some in College, but only easy routes and not very often.

Oh, well hell. Public brain farts are the worst.

Climbing the FACE of Half Dome is not easy... and there is also a trial that will take you to the top of El Cap without danger as well.

I've known several peoplep who climbed El Cap - two are good friends and great guys, one is one of the biggest jerks I've ever known.

One of the cool guys lead me on a trip to the top of Lovers Leap in the Tahoe area. But when asked here, it didn't occur to me to mention it as a major accomplishment - it's not that hard. Quitting smoking was way harder. Although Leo did take me on one pitch of class 5.10b - 150' of vertical smooth wall - I was very proud of that.

Climbing the face of Lover's Leap seems like quite a feat! I didn't even know there were routes up it. A friend of mine has ski based it a few times. He was with this guy and jumped it the day this was recorded (the jumper here was his good buddy): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3Pld1Ingu4

That said, I've got to imagine quitting smoking is a much tougher achievement.
