[quote chopper]Holy crap.

I had no idea storage prices were this cheap.

"Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB Serial ATA II Internal Hard Drive for $140 shipped"

I assume a serial ATA II drive will slip into my G5?

Chop
well if you think thats cheap, you should see the prices on 500 gig drives -- they are $1 CHEAPER and the 160 you are looking at...

jdc,
I'm curious about where you put the velcro. Was it on the "floor" of the G5 to hold the drives? Also, I am assuming you had to use a couple of Y-adapters for the power. I got a bunch of the molex-to-SATA power cables. Did you use the power from the optical drive as a starting point? I'm thinking Y-adapter from optical power (one goes to optical drive), then split again for the two drives?

For $50 plus a couple Y-adapters, I might just add two of my drives internally.

i put the velcro on the bottom of the case and the edge of the drive to stop vibration noise

when the drive spun up sometimes there was a vibrating noise cause of the metal on metal contact

so buy using the velcro, it stopped that

yeah, i stole power from the optical drive -- im assuming i must have used the molex to SATA power adapters, its been soooo long ago i dont remember
