Re: Official Tax Thread - Grumpyguy - 04-15-2007 honestly, I'd be rich if I didn't pay so many taxes. I went back to tax cut this year, because the Turbo Tax was some damn expensive when I was out looking. But that being said, Turbo Tax, imho is better in that it seems to ask you all the right questions, whereas Tax Cut seems to forget a few things. Re: Official Tax Thread - h linamen - 04-15-2007 .... and don't forget www.taxact.com is free. Free computation and free e-filing. Easy! Re: Official Tax Thread - TLB - 04-15-2007 I used Tax Cut for about the 8th year. The difference this year is that I did it on the Mac; previously I've always used the PC version. Worked fine but didn't seem as polished as the other platform. Unfortunately, not only am I paying about $1500 in additional taxes, I realized I only take home about 53% of my gross. The rest is taxes and other withholding. If I took home my take home, I'd be rich! Re: Official Tax Thread - M A V I C - 04-15-2007 [quote TLB] I realized I only take home about 53% of my gross. The rest is taxes and other withholding. OUCH! What's the other withholding? Insurance...? Re: Official Tax Thread - PeterB - 04-15-2007 [quote mrbigstuff][quote PeterB]I'm sorry, but I just don't know that I like the idea of all of these companies having all our personal financial info... neither do I . but with TT you have the option of printing the forms at the end of the process, no? Yep. That's what I did previously (TT, then print at the end). Taxact.com looks good, but again I'm not sure I like the idea of a third-party company having all my financial info. rgG is correct in that apparently we need to be worried about the IRS having the info. On the other hand, the IRS is apparently losing a lot of money to tax cheats, the lower-end income ones mostly: http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/Taxguide/story?id=3039409&page=1 Re: Official Tax Thread - MacArtist - 04-15-2007 All that's left to do is put the check in the mail. I had to pay in $1200 this year. It's not the end of the world. I saved up with the worst case scenario in mind. After federal and state taxes are paid, there's still money left over. Re: Official Tax Thread - Carm - 04-15-2007 Done yesterday, need to efile them. Broke even. 400 from federal return and I own 400 to the state. :O Carm Re: Official Tax Thread - endymion - 04-16-2007 Anyone try the mozilla-based taxgeek? http://taxgeek.sourceforge.net/ g= |
