I've been using Lightroom. It's occasionally frustrating, but I shoot raw files with my
camera and always post-process them, so Lightroom is terrific for those purposes.
I use it to import my photos, adjust them, add keywords, copyright and other metadata,
export the occasional web gallery, impose slide shows on my friends, etc.

I use Bridge CS3 to review and manage the editing in Photoshop CS3 of image files
derived from my photos, e.g. psds etc.

I used iPhoto when I first got a digital camera 6 or so years ago--everything was jpg,
but I still preferred to adjust the images in Photoshop. I've barely used iPhoto in years.

I use Portfolio for cataloging my non-photo files, e.g. freelance jobs, etc., and
archive DVDs, but I use it less and less.

[quote M A V I C]The Finder. I like knowing exactly where my pictures are, and don't want an edited version here, the original there, all nested into some directory structure that changes with nearly every update of iPhoto.

I use Bridge if I need previews or need to rotate via EXIF data.
amen.

I second that amen. If iPhoto managed pictures like iTunes does music, I'd consider it. Maybe it does now, but I've already set my files up and I don't want to muck with them.

Triple ditto downer for iPhoto. I use Photoshop Elements 3, which allows me to use my own file structure, thank ya very much. Unfortunately it isn't Intel-specific so it doesn't take advantage of my greased Mini lightning.

Hmm. I don't like to use iPhoto, but I do.

I really want a killer-app photo application, one that doesn't suck, allows me to rename images, change metadata, is superfast, has editing, has real editing(unlike iPhoto where rotates don't stick and stuff(or maybe that's preview, I forget)), has good organization, albums, and integrates with iApps.

I prefer iView.

I started out on PCs and still have a nice one as our main system. I use Picasa to view and edit, however, I import all of my pictures into my own directory structure so it's easy to back up and I know where they are.

I use iphoto to put pics on my ipod Smile

Hmm. I have iLife CDs. I guess I'll go ahead and install '08. I'm looking forward to it.

I use Photo Mechanic (along with meaningful folder names) but in my case it's not recreational use.

I have been using Photo Mechanic and Photoshop since long before iPhoto was even in existence. And the first couple versions of iPhoto needed work.

But even now there's still no way I would use iPhoto; I have too many images.
