I finally found the exact thing I was talking about after a lot of unproductive Velcro googling:

Just google Velcro cinch strap and you'll get a lot of hits.

I found some at home depot. they definitely weren't by electrical. i think they might have been by small fasteners, like adhesive backed velcro.

they're the same as these -

The glue might not stand up to the heat of laptop and LCD monitor power bricks. I've had a couple slide off the wall (where they were velcroed to) in the Summer.

One of the Marine stores (maybe Radio Shack, too) has a <> velcro.
I know someone who used it to hold a keyboard in place. It worked well. Broke the keyboard when he went to try to remove it. :-)

Well, now I have options. Since I found how wide the selection of sizes and shapes is, I've thought of all kinds of things to use them for, but mostly outside. What started me thinking about this is when I was trying to figure out how to keep the handle of my power washer depressed. I tried using it yesterday, and my hands have deteriorated so much in the last year that I was in pain within five minutes. I understand those things are designed on purpose so they'll turn off if the wand is dropped, but, if I don't figure out how to disable that "feature" my days of power washing will be over. I'm too young to give up power washing! Smile

it isn't just you. When I w\power washed my fence 2 years ago, I had to lock the trigger down too. And again when I used the airless sprayer. That thing vibrated my hand numb for the rest of the day.

Garden supply store. They are called "tomato ties."

Gee, for just a second, I thought you were offering to come and do it for me! Smile

How did you lock the trigger down? I was thinking that depressing it and then anchoring it with one of those Velcro thingys would work. First hand experience? Of course I've since figured out they'd be good for anchoring the power cord to my lawn mower and a couple of other things, too, so I'm still going to look for some. I am, though, open to other suggestions about the power washer, since you understand what I'm trying to do and why.

Gutenberg has the right product. Home Depot used to stock VELCRO® Plant Ties. A 1/2" X 30' roll for $2. It only takes a 4 - 6" length to secure most cables, so it's like 4¢ each! ...if you don't mind the green color Tongue Also comes in 45' & 75' rolls.
Ace, Tru-Value, & DoIt Best affiliates stock it too. http://doitbest.com/Sealing+and+duct+tape-Velcro+USA-model-90594-doitbest-sku-628638.dib

Funny, this question pops up every 12 months or so ::o

One thing about a plain velcro strap is that pressure on them will cause it to release sooner or later, depending on how much pressure is exerted, as in the trigger for the pressure washer. The advantage to the ones I recommended is that there's a metal or plastic loop on one end and you wrap the velcro strap around whatever you want secured, pass the end through the loop and bring it back on itself to stick. Thus the pressure to undo is transferred to the plastic loop; not the hook and loop.
That explanation may not make much sense, but trust me, it works great
