OMG - lafinfil - 11-28-2008 A friend of mine had laser surgery on her cervix to remove a pre-cancerous growth. She was in her mid 20's & in school working as a waitress - no insurance Planned Parenthood covered all of her expenses (they actually discovered the condition) It cost he nothing except the cost of transportation to go to Indy where the proceedure was offered and her friends chipped in to help defray that cost. For many women PP is the only womens healthcare that they get and usually at a very minimal cost if they are able to pay. I'm thankful they were there for her or she may have ended up much worse. To refresh your memory, in some cases it's a complete waste of time. The minds of some people are made up, and they have no desire to be confused by facts. Re: The Ultimate Gift Certificate ? OMG - kj - 11-28-2008 At best it's a little odd. Here's a gift certificate so you can get your cervix fixed! People have been helping other people out as long as there have been people, but a holiday gift certificate is weird. If you believe abortion is killing a human, giving a birth certificate that can be used to do so, is worse than weird. That said, I think it's a really silly idea. A gift certificate for something that is too serious for a gift certificate (whether it's for an abortion or not). kj. Re: The Ultimate Gift Certificate ? OMG - graylocks - 11-28-2008 All of our health centers provide pelvic exams, Pap tests, breast cancer screenings and walk-in pregnancy testing (fees for pregnancy testing vary, depending on the type of funding available at that health center). Our staff is also trained to educate you about options for those patients who are unsure of their decision concerning pregnancy. Information and referrals for adoption, prenatal care, and counseling are available, as well as abortion information and referral. i could be not reading deeply enough, but it appears these PP Health Centers do not do the abortions but counsel and refer the patient elsewhere. Perhaps the gift certificate is usuable at the places a woman seeking an abortion is referred to but that's unclear. Re: The Ultimate Gift Certificate ? I have been in their clinic on many occasions and talked to the staff and also had a friend that was a Nurse Practitioner - taught Public Health. For many women PP is one of the few affordable choices for regular health care and are hardly the hotbed of abortion people make them out to be. You can bet that hospital I linked gets your insurance number on the way in. Re: The Ultimate Gift Certificate ? OMG - vision63 - 11-28-2008 No one "believes in" or is "pro" abortion. |
