Yes, he is not a politician, and I am not saying he has to be fair. But, he holds a lot of sway in that he is all over the press for his comments about our president and he needs to be kept in perspective. If you are saying that he does not have the weight of a politician, I would disagree, because of just what you said, about not having to be "fair". Some republicans wish they could talk like him, but they can't out of fear of being tossed out.
I see Rush as one who "rallies the troops" as it were; the guy at the demonstration with the bullhorn and the placard with the slogan that everyone chants. This is more dangerous than a politician as he has no boundaries in that sense.

It says that the GOP is out of sorts that one of their most prominent cheerleaders cannot get behind their choice. It also says that he is not a team player, in the sense that you support your ticket at that time, regardless. There are many who supported Bush, even though they said later that they hoped for someone else, but they supported him. For as much as I thought Kerry was flat, I supported him, as I thought Bush was doing a poor job in 2004.

Rush didn't need to do focus groups. He knew there were millions of dumbasses out there who didn't do much reading but could find a station on the radio. He tells them what they want to hear and they are so intellectually shallow, they will listen to him over and over. Fox News does the same thing. It is no coincidence the same man started both Rush's show and Fox News. The audience is one notch above the pro wrestling crowd.

I still think Rush is a pompous ass. His "talent on loan from God" schtik just drives me nuts. But 90% of the time his politics are spot on.
Unlike the unwashed around here, I tend to try to separate the message from messenger. I was not won over by Obama's oratory style, staging and imagery, but I got his message of socialism, crisis management, spread the wealth and liberal ideology. That's where he lost me.
Yes, Limbaugh is pompous and bombastic in his delivery, but his message is no less true for me.

Rush says whatever Rush thinks will help Rush. Here he is on November 8, 2006, admitting that he had been on the air lying his ass off and supporting things and people that he did not even agree with. The GOP lost big time and Rush jumped onto the air in a panic to disassociate himself from the losers. He's a liar, an opportunist, and he will stab you in the back -- which are fairly typical character traits of a drug addict.

But there have been a bunch of things going on in Congress, some of this legislation coming out of there that I have just cringed at, and it has been difficult coming in here, trying to make the case for it when the people who are supposedly in favor of it can't even make the case themselves -- and to have to come in here and try to do their jobs. I'm a radio guy. I understand what this program has become in America and I understand the leadership position it has. I was doing what I thought best, but at this point, people who don't deserve to have their water carried, or have themselves explained as they would like to say things but somehow don't be -- aren't able to, I'm not under that kind of pressure.

So you don't mind that a great entertainer and a pompous *ss is now the leader of the Republican party? Oh that's right, you're an independent.
