Sounds as if whomever put up the site is equally "pleased" with the arrangement. My guess is that this isn't the work of a paid designer, or unpaid designer. Probably just a formerly-innocent person caught in the middle. Now, this Ron guy --- he's the owner who turned down the legit bid? --- he sure seems like a piece of work.

If Ron would send me some wonderful text maybe in word format I could add it to his site in this location.

Blah Blah Blah Blah and more Blah If I had something to say here I would but I think you guys could come up with a much better solution. All Hot women please call Ron at 555-1234. Don't wait he is not getting any younger. ...

That site just needs to function reasonably well.
As long as its customers can find the right screw for the right job, add it to a cart and pay for it, everybody's happy.

I am concerned that whoever is programming the site seems as clueless of that discipline as they are of visual design, though.

I've got a few friends who fancy themselves decent designers. And being a designer myself, i would agree. But i wonder how we are supposed to compete when a buddy of mine gives a REALLY good quote to a potential client and the guy turns around and goes THIS route instead... http://goperfspec.com/. He MUST have gotten it free.

Simple. Just be a good designer. Do good work and protect it. Leave the lowballers and other s#itty clients for the posers.
