His place is like a Mac Museum/Warehouse. I was there about a month and 1/2 ago and he had at least 30 or 40 iMacs of various flavors If you are willing to pay shipping that is definitely the way to go. Of course they don't have warranties like some of the Mac resellers but he is REAL GOOD about making things right and standing behind what he sells. I don't know how close you are to Michigan, but you may want to do a weekend rental on a car, do a road trip, and pick them up in person. He is pretty flexible. Mention Art and he may give U a little better price... ![]() (...or charge U double!) Re: If you were looking to buy 5-10 Slot Loading iMacs... where to look? - The Grim Ninja - 03-23-2006 RMartin is local (probably 10 miles away from me) and ArtP here knows him somewhat well. (Art suggested I talk to him about something a while back). I believe Art said he gets the systems from university surplus, ect. He's just a person though, so I doubt he can take purchase orders. Honestly, I don't think you're going to find any good options for old systems at reasonable prices, and accepting purchase orders. That said, Geeks gets in B&W G3 refurbs now and then, but at a pretty high price. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=PM400-AQUA-3C&cpc=SCH&srm=0 They might take purchase orders, though. I forgot, what area are you in? Considered looking for surplus auctions at universities and such? Figure out some magical way you can accept a purchase order? (I don't know much about how they work, but I'm guessing that wouldn't be easy). Re: If you were looking to buy 5-10 Slot Loading iMacs... where to look? - Paul F. - 03-23-2006 All good ideas! The local university donated 6 tray-loaded iMacs to this school last year... I may contact their surplus department again and inquire if they have decommissioned any more Macs. For reference; I'm in Far-Northern California... A fair drive from pretty much anywhere ( about 6 hours from the SF Bay area, about 5-ish to Sacramento... depending on traffic). Re: If you were looking to buy 5-10 Slot Loading iMacs... where to look? - Blurb - 03-23-2006 Just so happens here's a fresh post/link: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=188539 Don't know if that fits your requirements, or not, but hope it at least helps. Re: If you were looking to buy 5-10 Slot Loading iMacs... where to look? - ka jowct - 03-23-2006 macofalltrades.com DISCLAIMER: macofalltrades is a rip-off, in my opinion. Their prices are usually high compared to other resellers. You have to wait for their Pissant Specials. Re: If you were looking to buy 5-10 Slot Loading iMacs... where to look? - St. Bernard - 03-23-2006 I'm pretty sure RMartin (really nice guy by the way) hits the Univ. of Michigan property disposition sales. They routines have pallettes that you can pick up on the cheap...if you can buy in quantity. Paul F., considering you're so near Apple's home country, I've gotta think that one of the local (ok, even if it means driving to SF or Sac) universities has something similar that you can tap into. Perhaps a vehicle of sufficient size can be obtained and you can do an iMac road trip? Re: If you were looking to buy 5-10 Slot Loading iMacs... where to look? - ka jowct - 03-23-2006 Places that can only do this kind of transaction via purchase order must end up getting reamed on a lot of the stuff they buy… Re: If you were looking to buy 5-10 Slot Loading iMacs... where to look? - Harbourmaster - 03-23-2006 wegener Media has iMacs in your price range and takes School PO's http://www.wegenermedia.com/ You could also try David Baucom http://www.baucomcomputers.com/ give him a call and tell him what your looking for. |
