Re: watched the new star trek last night - Jack D. - 12-02-2009 I bought it this weekend and i thought it was the best ST yet. It was fresh, the characters were believable - really liked Scotty!. It moved at a faster pace than the others did and has great CG effects. A note on the lens flares, if you watch the extras they explain that they were going for the flares as a way to make everything look more real. They show a shot of the Enterprise with and without the flares and I think it does look better with them. However there were some scenes that could have been toned down a bit. Re: watched the new star trek last night - anonymouse1 - 12-02-2009 Not the best, but very, very enjoyable. Certainly in the top 20%. Re: watched the new star trek last night - Grateful11 - 12-02-2009 Saw it on the big screen and bought the DVD off Amazon. Saving for my sons when they get home for Christmas break. I bought it because one of my kids requested it for her birthday. She's had enough exposure to the original series to know who was who but didn't have all the baggage that comes with being a hard core fan, so I think that should be encouraging to the filmmakers to keep this retooled version going. Lens flare doesn't bother me. I guess if you focus on it, it does. Kind of like my tinnitus. Re: watched the new star trek last night - RAMd®d - 12-02-2009 However there were some scenes that could have been toned down a bit. This is all I'm saying. It's not like it was gratuitous female-babe huge, nice ta-ta nudity. That I could get used to no problem. I think that honor still belongs to "Galaxy Quest". Absolutely! One of my very favorite things about the movie was Sigourney Weaver's contributions. Besides just looking good and portraying a great character well, she added a touch not in the script or direction. In the Galaxy Quest commentary, Tony Shalhoub said she came up with the idea of tearing her uniform shirt a little in various scenes, exposing more and more of her-- contributions, as the movie progressed. Unfortunately the movie ended several scenes sooner than I would have liked. And there should have been lots of running! But it was a *great* movie. And Alan Rickman was no slouch, either. Re: watched the new star trek last night - bazookaman - 12-02-2009 Its like pouring gasoline...on a flame. Re: watched the new star trek last night - Paul F. - 12-02-2009 "I've done Richard III"... "Oh, here it comes!" That movie is one of my top ten favorite movies of all time... Re: watched the new star trek last night - jdc - 12-02-2009 was there a better ST movie? i thought it was pretty dang entertaining myself.
