Why did you get a cat when you have allergies ?

my cat allergies weren't pinned down for about 6 months. By then, they weren't going anywhere. I had been tested earlier, and WAS NOT allergic then, so we had no reason to believe I had suddenly become sensitive. Well, it happened.

Cats love to crawl into things.

I'd recommend providing some warm fuzzy stuff on the couch (blankets, comforters, etc) and let the cat burrow as he sees fit.

Back in the day, my boyfriend's cat used to crawl under the covers and sleep on my back on winter nights when the apartment got drafty. She knew exactly what temperature she wanted.

By the way, I am also now allergic to cats. I can develop a tolerance to an individual cat if I expose myself over time in a low level way, much like allergy shots. My landlord has a cat that I tolerate pretty well. Even so, I am careful to wash my hands whenever I play with her, and to never let her inside my actual apartment.

Why do you have a sofa in your carport?

Because the front porch is full?

It didn't fit in the camaro up on blocks in the back yard ?

Cats lived outdoors for eons.
Fortunately there were no idiots in four wheeled machines to slaughter them.

I had this same discussion with a guy I knew who grew up on a farm in Minnesota. He told me of finding a feral cat colony in a brush pile when the temperature outside was 30 below zero. They were just fine. Cats go to ground when it gets cold... they know it stays warmer.

I also recall worrying about our then 4 big black cats in their cat house (a repurposed dog house) when the temperature hit 40 below one frosty February day. They were just fine, and having a lovely snack on a slow moving Hare.

Most cats are just fine outside in the cold. But not all cats bred to be house cats still have the full coat of fur to keep them warm. Those will need at least a sheltered place that is warmer, and preferably be kept indoors.

The Garage Sofa is a pretty common sight, although the reason for it still eludes me...
