A friend of my brother's had a new gold 1968 Barracuda Formula S with the 340 V8, what a glorious sound that made...

'cudas didn't exist until 1970. The proper name for the A body version is a Barracuda. The E body version had a performance line called the 'cuda. The standard ones were still called the Barracuda.

One HS friend still has his 70 383 'cuda, and the other still has his '72 340 Challenger.

I didn't know there was actually a Barracuda and a Cuda. Just thought 'Cuda was an abbreviation or nickname.

There was also an obscure sporting Barracuda variant called the Savage; it included such things as a roll bar, wire wheels, a revised nose and trunk, wooden dash, etc.

Only around 12 were made; they fit uneasily between being a Factory Car Option and a Dealer Special Package.

Looks to me like a modified Plymouth Valiant convertible with a Baracuda roof and custom back glass.... trunk deck is way too long for a Baracuda!
