I didn't care until you mentioned Clark bar. Then it hit too close to home. Sigh.

I liked the small rolls of candy like Necco (had a concave surface), I thought they were a little tastier.

Much smaller in diameter and rolls, you're think of Smarties. They were indeed tasty. I like them both.

The author of the article didn't get out much. In my neighborhood, Necco's were pretty popular.

Two of my favorite candy bars were Hoffman's CupOGold and Brown and Haley's Mountain Bar (regular, cherry was OK but not a fave).

For endurance and only 5¢, Look, Big Hunk, and Black Cow couldn't be beat. The Seven Up bar was a dime, I think, but each bite was a different 'bar'!

In chronological order from childhood:

Chunky ("Open wide for Chunkeee!")
Bit o' Honey (recently rescued from oblivion by Pearson Candy Co (maker of Nut Goodies, Salted Nut Roll))

Current oddball favorite is:

Mmm. Sooo good.

I suspect they will find a buyer and the Necco wafer and other candies manufactured there will continue on.

I didn't mind them, but they were down a bit on my list of favorite candy.

I hope a buyer steps up. I like Necco wafers.

But I prefer SweeTarts to Smarties.

I've always loved chocolate Necco wafers. In fact, a couple of months ago I bought a box of them from Amazon (maybe 24 in the box?) because it was hard to find the individual rolls of chocolate Neccos around here. I've eaten maybe 5 rolls. Now I don't know if I should hoard the rest or have my wife sell them on eBay!

I absolutely love Necco wafers. After white chocolate Reece's, they're my favorite candy. When I heard the news, I went to a Five Below store and bought all 50 rolls they had. Tried Big Lots and Dollar Tree who usually sell them, but not luck. Went to a store called Bulk Nation, who as the name implies sell things in bulk. Got a bag full of the smaller sized rolls.

Clove is my favorite flavor. Chocolate is my least favorite.

New Coke...

I use Necco wafers as rifle targets. They go "puff" when they get hit, and the next rain washes then away, unless a critter gets to them before.
