For electronic tech (or any expensive breakable item) that's supposed to work, take a detailed video that shows the item's true condition with it working (and even being tested, as appropriate), and post it as a private video on YT. Get confirmation that the buyer has viewed the video and accepts the item and its condition before shipment. Insure the package, and if the seller has an issue w/ the item, you've got an easy claim against the shipping company if ebay puts up a fight.

I think everyone who is a regular eBay seller above is saying that doesn't matter

Video proves nothing. You're not thinking like a thief. There are 1,000,000 ways to defeat the setup you're spelling out.

(I like how the subject is censored, except in the reply field, I can see the original word.)

First, I'm also trying to sell a RAID controller on ebay. Hmmm.

Second, this is why I don't want to give ebay my bank account info. Before I had PayPal as a buffer for shenanigans. Related to that, I've sold a couple items lately and Ebay is holding onto the money until I add my bank account info. They said that I could use the money to buy things on ebay as well, but I can't figure out how to pay with the money that's in my ebay account.

Have any of you been successful paying with the money that's in your ebay account?

The best I can estimate, I stopped selling on eBay 8 years ago. I have not made a purchase on eBay in almost three years. I can't say I miss it much, especially the selling.

Not like a thief..., like somebody that wants to be prepared for as many eventualities as possible....

and most importantly so that the transaction results in me getting paid.

I've used videos many times, including a couple that when the shipping company got involved, resulted in the buyer paying the agreed upon price.

Yeah, I'm off the ledge now.

It's not the first time I've had a problem with a technology sale (selling a Mac-oriented drive and having someone fuck it up when reformatting for Windows) but it's admittedly the first in a while. I'm just not going to bother selling tech there anymore.
