Re: Top bands you never got to see - cbelt3 - 05-07-2008 The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. I'm happy to say I *have* seen the Stones, U2, and Queen (with Freddie). Concerts come to me nowadays- who the F can afford that kind of price ? Re: Top bands you never got to see - incognegro - 05-07-2008 I've missed some big ones, but saw some amazing shows that I was glad I got in on: I saw Nirvana, Madness & R.E.M. ('83), the Stones, Jane's Addiction ('91), Ramones (6 times), Bowie twice (best at Electric Factory), Mars Volta ('08), Bauhaus (1st reunion), Todd Rundgren ('87), Body Count w/Ice-T at CBGBs ('91), Skinny Puppy 3 times, Peter Murpy ('87), Nick Cave a few times, Neubauten a couple times, Spiritualized, Stereolab, Swans, more than I can recall at the moment. Frank Zappa would be on my "missed" list, too. Along with The Who, Zeppelin, The Goats, Spacemen 3, Joy Division, and loads more. Re: Top bands you never got to see - kap - 05-07-2008 stray cats! Re: Top bands you never got to see - Glued - 05-07-2008 The Beatles Led Zeppelin Boston and though I had seen them four times, I would have liked to have seen The (real) Outlaws one last time. R.I.P. Hughie Thomasson, Billy Jones and Frank O'Keefe. Green Grass and High Tides Forever! Re: Top bands you never got to see - (vikm) - 05-07-2008 [quote kap]stray cats! kap, you still have a chance... they are doing a "farewell tour" and then are supposedly shutting it down. Do it! :-) http://www.briansetzer.com/tour_main.html As for me, big name bands I never got to see The Smiths or The Clash. There are some lesser known bands in the US that I'd have liked to have caught like Material Issue, Suede, James (who are back together but will likely not play the US). Re: Top bands you never got to see - archipirata - 05-07-2008 Stevie Ray Vaughan Re: Top bands you never got to see - Silencio - 05-07-2008 Miles Davis, 70s or earlier - acoustic, electric, whatever Bowie, 70s Can Joy Division The Birthday Party Wire, 70s Sparks, 70s Coltrane The Who at their peak would've been great The Jam I've been fortunate to see most of my favorite performers live at one point or another, even if not at the height of their powers. Re: Top bands you never got to see - maco - 05-07-2008 The Beatles The Who Led Zeppelin I have been fortunate to see many different bands over the years. We even got some good bands at my college. I had fun helping the roadies set up. Even got to work the follow spot at one concert. I grew up in Hermosa Beach, CA. Home of the world famous Lighthouse Cafe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lighthouse_All-Stars It was one of the premier Jazz Clubs from the 1950's - 1970's. Many a Jazz record was recorded there. Growing up, I would stand by the open dutch door and watch the bands. Seeing lots of music since I moved Denver. Here are shots from just a couple of the many Denver concerts that I have gone to. http://www.flickr.com/photos/wackomaco/collections/72157603149925125/ Got to see a good selection at Cal Jam in 1974 * Rare Earth * Earth, Wind and Fire * Eagles * Seals & Crofts * Black Oak Arkansas * Black Sabbath * Deep Purple * Emerson, Lake and Palmer Also a good selection at the US Festival. He did play some of his popular song from his heydays with the Stray Cats. Re: Top bands you never got to see - Silencio - 05-07-2008 You forgot the "metal day" at US 83! Crüe! (I love how iPhone got that word right, umlaut and all!) Ozzy! Priest! Triumph (meh) Scorps! Van Halen! Three good days of Rock Ed for my 12 year-old self. |
