Cute. Too soon? Nah.

Agree or disagree as to the value of releasing the photos, but don't pretend that it is an Obama-only decision.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that the president made the decision unilaterally, that is not his style. But it is his call, whether others agree or not. I think he made the right one, again.
Of course it's only a matter of time before Julian Assange has the photos...

Is Will Ferrell missing a bottom tooth or is that spinach?

As Americans we have to respect the dignity of the dead. No pictures, no virtual dragging through the streets. No sense stooping to Bin Laden's level.
Agreed!

the dead and their relatives - like them or not ( kinda like in-laws) :-)

But in the mission to kill OBL, we didn't really "go into Pakistan" in a military sense. We swooped in, killed him, grabbed material and his corpse, and swooped out.

As I said before, I signed on to this policy when Bush enunciated it a decade ago. Problem is when BUsh said it he was accused of being a cowboy. What right the US has to stage what are practically assassination raids around the world without asking anybody, they asked? We are better than them, it was said. If this episode helped bring them onboard then we indeed have a unified nation.
But do we have equivalent intelligence on where al-Zawahiri is hiding out? Or is that what you mean by "Is Yemen next?" Are you asking if Yemen should/would be next, if we know exactly where al-Zawahiri is? Just trying to clarify - i'm not so good at reading between the lines. Thanks!

I am questioning the driving policy for future actions. If an identical situation happened in Yemen, or anywhere, and the host country was not cooperating and the target was juicy enough, do we go in just the way we did and whack the guy? I say yes and have been saying it since 2001. No midnight conversions here.

Thanks for clearing that up! I wonder how others on the forum would feel about that?

Yemen and Zawahiri are not identical. Not even close. I'm sure we are trying to whack him, but there are no parallels or analogies between Pakistan/bin Laden and Yemen/Zawahiri. So, don't look for a repeat.

Maybe the next mission will be into Libya? Lockerbie is justification enough.
