is this a deal? (HDTV) - bazookaman - 01-21-2011 http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?sku=A4565383&cs=19&c=us&l=en&dgc=SS&cid=39715&lid=1003762 looking for one for my mom. This is about the limit of her budget. She was looking at this Toshiba from Amazon Re: is this a deal? (HDTV) - macbeergeek2 - 01-21-2011 That must be some extra-special BROWN color... they mention it twice in the description! And what the heck is a "Zero Bright Defective Pixel"? Highlights * Features SRS TruSurround XT with 3x HDMI Inputs * Exclusive JAVA bezel color * Features 178 Degree Viewing Angle for crisp and clear pictures * Comes with Exclusive JAVA bezel color * 1080P Full HD * Exceeds Energy Star 3.0 Guidelines * Gives you Zero Bright Defective Pixel Re: is this a deal? (HDTV) - bazookaman - 01-21-2011 Duh. It's "exclusive". Re: is this a deal? (HDTV) - silvarios - 01-21-2011 Not bad. I'm pretty sure that is an old Vizio and I don't mean 2010 model. That might be a 2009 TV. Sort of weird color to the bezel as well, but not too bad otherwise. That Toshiba probably isn't bad either. $350 is about the cheapest price I've seen for a 60Hz CCFL backlight 1080p 32" HDTV. There is an LED edge lit Vizio 720p HDTV for about the same price. Probably worth checking into. Depending whether you want 720p or 1080p. Re: is this a deal? (HDTV) - bazookaman - 01-21-2011 Sure. But there's nothing wrong with buying an older model. Especially if you really ONLY need the TV part. All the other bells and whistles are meaningless to my mom. She needs one or two hdmi ports and...well, that's about it. She is still using a CRT so anything would be better. Re: is this a deal? Re: is this a deal? (HDTV) - bazookaman - 01-21-2011 this is true. I suppose it all boils down to how long she wants to wait. Re: is this a deal? (HDTV) - silvarios - 01-21-2011 The Toshiba seems like a good deal, but it doesn't mention viewing angles. Re: is this a deal? (HDTV) - OWC Jamie - 01-21-2011 $455 in Jan 2009 at slickdeals archive I went with a newer Vizio when I got my mom one last Summer because the menus were bigger and easier to see from far away. Razor screen with led backlights. I don't think I spent more than $350, but I'd really have to check. Re: is this a deal? I don't know that I've ever seen her sit down and actually watch an entire movie. Plus her seating area is directly in front of the TV. |
