iPhone in Hawaii, I know it's USA - Microman - 01-21-2011 Sitting here at Fuddruckers burgers, wondering if when u go to Hawaii the iPhone will work with no extra roaming charges? Where is that AT&T map? Re: iPhone in Hawaii, I know it's USA - bhaveshp - 01-21-2011 Yes, works fine. No extra charges. Re: iPhone in Hawaii, I know it's USA - Lux Interior - 01-21-2011 Now that that's solved, figure this one out: Why are there interstate highways in Hawaii? Re: iPhone in Hawaii, I know it's USA - Racer X - 01-21-2011 That's easy. In order to qualify for federal funding to build an interstate highway, it must begin and end at a military installation. So I-1 links the main bases on Oahu. The senator from Hawaii at the time had major influence, and got an exception made just for his constituents. Interstate highways are not for our convenience, they are to be able to move military materiel. Re: iPhone in Hawaii, I know it's USA - cbelt3 - 01-21-2011 Racer has it.... The Defense Highway System. I like Ike ! Re: iPhone in Hawaii, I know it's USA - rz - 01-21-2011 I-4 in Florida goes from Daytona Beach to Tampa. There is MacDill AFB in Tampa, but it's several miles from where I-4 ends. And there is no military base in Daytona Beach. There are plenty of interstates which are contained in only one state, and do not begin and end at a military installation.
