People need to stop dying - M A V I C - 06-20-2011

Ok, I know that's futile... in a little under two months I've had two great friends pass. Both of them were truly great people, and I don't say that lightly. Both of them have had a major positive impact on many lives, one of them probably hundreds and the other one possibly 10's of thousands. Both will leave a legacy that continues doing good on this earth.

One lived about six months after he was diagnosed with cancer. He was in extremely great shape for being in his 70's - won a body building championship two years ago (all natural.) The doctors said he probably had cancer for ~5 years before the symptoms showed. But since he picked up body building that probably kept his body in good shape for all those years. Unfortunately it meant when they did find it, they could never determine the source, since it was everywhere. About once a week for those six months, doctors told him he only had two or three days to live. There's a couple blurbs about him online: http://www.evolutionbellevue.com/walts-cancer-fight http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/24319547/wid/11915773/from/ET I knew him, his wife, his brother, two of his kids, all of their kids...

*sigh*

The other passed suddenly from a rare internal injury. I knew him, his wife, his daughter, sons and some of his relatives. He's had a major impact on my life, and I'm not even sure what to say about him. He's written many books, is an international speaker...

*sigh*

Sorry for your loss. As you mentioned their legacies will carry on in the minds and the hearts of those whom they have touched.

I have to agree. Just recently, I've heard of people dying at very young ages. This time around, these people are not related to me, but in the last few years four people close to me died within two years' time.

We've read that cancer deaths are down, but man, I'm hearing of more people being diagnosed, some in their 30s and 40s.

I try to keep this in mind, now that I am older and a number of loved ones are even older than me:

Every day is a gift and there are no guarantees that everyone lives to 80+. Dying is a part of life and you can be sure that if you are fortunate enough to have one or more good relationships in your life that someday you will lose it (them).

All that being said, it still sux to loose someone that means as much as you describe. I'm sorry for your loss.

I need to pin this up on my wall somewhere. sorry for your recent losses, MAVIC. i know it's only a matter of time before my leaves begin to drop from the trees i've grown and nurtured in my life also.

They will remain alive if we keep them alive in our hearts and minds. Very sorry to hear of your losses.

I'm sorry you are going through this MAVIC. Nothing comforting to add other than to remind you that you are doing their memories a blessing by sharing your thoughts about them. Continue to do that and you will always honor them.
