I got an email to this effect but apparently my serial number is not one of the (un) lucky ones! Rats.

Actually looking through my old email I see that I sold it in early 2009 for $50. So justice has been served it seems.

Super easy to check serial number. Sign into Apple and then My Support Profile and Bob's your Uncle, unless he isn't, which he wasn't for me.

I have the impression that Apple is sitting on a lot of the current Nanos. I'd be very surprised if the replacement was anything other than an 8-GB 6th gen.
