10 min out of room: turn TV OFF or just let it run? - space-time - 09-03-2014 panasonic Plasma. Suppose I leave the room for ~10 min but I know I want to continued wathcing TV when I return. Should I just let it run or turn it off? I am worried that turning it ON and OFF too much might cause some failures at some point? on th other hand 10 minutes, several times a day, it adds up, but wear and tear on TV and also waster energy. debate! If you have the TV on for several hours a day yes it'll wear out faster, regardless of any 10 minute breaks it gets. Might be less thermal stress just leaving it on.
