Scale Recomendation needed - pipiens - 03-09-2016 I need to get a couple of pretty good scales. There are two main uses. One is to weigh me, the other is to weigh luggage for airline limits. The two scales will be in different locations so I would like to weigh more or less the same in both locations. They should also be accurate enough to keep me out of trouble with the airlines. Seeing the scale display with luggage on it is a problem I have with my current scales and would like to solve. A mechanical scale with a pedestal would be kind of clumsy and hard to move around. Any suggestions? Re: Scale Recomendation needed - cbelt3 - 03-09-2016 I weigh luggage by holding the luggage in my arms when I stand on the scale, and then subtracting my weight. Just a thought. Re: Scale Recomendation needed - Ken Sp. - 03-09-2016 I have a couple of handheld luggage scales that I like. One uses a mechanical dial, the other one is digital, and they are both very accurate. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CZP22S?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A8SXGKA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00 As far as a personal scale, I have one from iHealth that Bluetooths to my phone to record my progress. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005FPT51U?keywords=ihealth&qid=1457542128&ref_=sr_1_12_a_it&sr=8-12 Re: Scale Recomendation needed - Gareth - 03-09-2016 Ken Sp. wrote: Yea, go with a handheld scale for luggage. You can also use a package scale that has the readout on a separate box (connected to the scale via a cable) so you can move it past the luggage you're weighing, but I find that luggage doesn't sit well on a scale to begin with (maybe if you're only using hard case luggage it would work ok). Re: Scale Recomendation needed - Filliam H. Muffman - 03-09-2016 I thought this would be easy, but all the remote display scales I remembered have been discontinued. Looking at a quick selection online, just get one of the handheld for the luggage. Re: Scale Recomendation needed - Black - 03-09-2016 D minor. Re: Scale Recomendation needed - ztirffritz - 03-09-2016 I hear RadioShack makes a nice USB model... Re: Scale Recomendation needed - Cary - 03-09-2016 I have this handheld luggage scale from Bed, Bath & Beyond. Works well - it has a hold feature, so when you weigh the luggage and put it down, the reading stays on the display for easy reading. Re: Scale Recomendation needed - Ombligo - 03-09-2016 Just subtract 3-5 lbs from the luggage scale - not because it is inaccurate but because the airport scales often are (and, oddly enough, never in your favor). |
