2009 iMac FU - ka jowct - 05-17-2017 So I bought it from my friend for $150. I added RAM today (it came about 2 hours ago) and the iMac's performance seems really decent. I wish I had time to do more but I have to go out for a couple of jobs. Re: 2009 iMac FU - Speedy - 05-17-2017 SSD next. Re: 2009 iMac FU - jdc - 05-17-2017 used leader! After pulling the one I have apart, I think Im just going to pull the optical drive and drop the SSD there. Maybe then I dont need fan software or fan cable? Re: 2009 iMac FU - hal - 05-17-2017 That's a good value - used imacs are an absolute bargain these days. Re: 2009 iMac FU - Zoidberg - 05-17-2017 Second the SSD comment. It will eek ever more life out of it. Re: 2009 iMac FU - ka jowct - 05-17-2017 No SSD unless I end up using it for something. Right now it's going to the Other Human. Re: 2009 iMac FU - ka jowct - 05-18-2017 Got Sierra installed this evening. The Other Human is playing with New Old iMac and seems to find it acceptable so far. Re: 2009 iMac FU - Racer X - 05-18-2017 A SSD would make it FAR more acceptable. Just saying. I have 2 MBPs and a Mac Pro tower just BEGGING for SSD upgrades. Nothing huge, just 250s or 500s. |
