So I bought it from my friend for $150. I added RAM today (it came about 2 hours ago) and the iMac's performance seems really decent. I wish I had time to do more but I have to go out for a couple of jobs.

After pulling the one I have apart, I think Im just going to pull the optical drive and drop the SSD there. Maybe then I dont need fan software or fan cable?

That's a good value - used imacs are an absolute bargain these days.

Got Sierra installed this evening. The Other Human is playing with New Old iMac and seems to find it acceptable so far.

A SSD would make it FAR more acceptable. Just saying.
I have 2 MBPs and a Mac Pro tower just BEGGING for SSD upgrades. Nothing huge, just 250s or 500s. |
