More Michigan Covidiocy - Sam3 - 04-26-2021 I'm kind of surprised that this story didn't hit the MRF "Friendy" side. You think Texas and Florida are bad? Parents are up in arms protesting that kids need to be freed from masks, saying that "...elementary-aged kids have suffered this school year as a result of COVID-19 restrictions like mask rules..." https://www.mlive.com/news/2021/04/enough-is-enough-michigan-parents-pushing-to-drop-mask-mandates-in-some-school-districts.html Some more fun Covidiot quotes: MLive wrote: “I understand that (schools require masks) to keep the kids safe, and the teachers,” Gamby said. “But I think some leniency should be put into place because these kids are struggling, big time, and we don’t know the long-term effects that wearing these masks are doing due to them.” Really? So this person thinks that it's a good idea to have a 7000 student school system get shut down in order to "stand up to the state": MLive wrote: But Gamby said if Hudsonville were to make masks optional, the act of “standing up to the state” would be worth the risk of being forced to shut down. While we're talking about covid-19, let's just go ahead and bring in gender issues: MLive wrote: DeBois said he thinks it is “common sense” for schools to make masks optional. And finally from that article, the big bad gubmint wants to control our kids. MLive wrote: “The government cannot make a decision for my kids’ health,” she said. “And that’s what it boils down to, the government is controlling what is best for my kids, and that is a parent’s choice.” Did you see how perfectly the protesters wore their masks? Oh, wait... Salon also covered this. https://www.salon.com/2021/04/17/michigan-parents-protest-school-mask-rule-for-kids-as-covid-surges-in-state_partner/ Love this quote: Salon wrote: Hudsonville mom Jeanette Schuiteman, who has a son in the 11th grade, expressed a number of concerns. While masks were the dominant complaint, many also aired their grievances about the social distancing measures noting how their children have only had minimal interaction with others since school started. Schuiteman insists the measures are "physically not healthy." Uh, sure lady. Just to let you know, Ottawa County, MI and Hudsonville especially have a high percentage of Christian Reformed people, the Christian Reformed are quite conservative, maybe not quite to the extent of Baptists, but still pretty hard core. Definitely Trump country. Re: More Michigan Covidiocy - cbelt3 - 04-26-2021 Like antivaxxers, it's evolution in action. They take some of us with them, but... Don't forget the motorcycle anti helmet campaigns: "They cause neck injuries !" (Well, yeah, but you'd be dead otherwise) Dumbassery will continue... Re: More Michigan Covidiocy - Sam3 - 04-26-2021 cbelt3 wrote: Well, yeah, you do have a point, Michigan did do away with mandatory helmet laws. Re: More Michigan Covidiocy - S. Pupp - 04-26-2021 "we don’t know the long-term effects that wearing these masks are doing due to them" We DO know the long term effects of these masks: NOT DYING or ending up with LIFE-LONG lung, heart, or brain problems. If masks were dangerous, we'd know about it: Surgeons and their staff wear masks most of the day. I'm so tired of the inane, stupid ramblings of segments of our population being given any credence whatsoever. People with such little common sense should lose their voting privileges, or be put away for their own protection. That includes my own neurologist - level of education seems to have little bearing on who's an anti-masker complaining about long-term effects of masks on kids. The stats are that for every one person that dies, there are 19 more people that end up as Long Haulers. 8 out of 1000 Long Haulers die in the next year. It will take another year to collect reliable stats on that 8. Mutations will likely raise that number. Re: More Michigan Covidiocy - p8712 - 04-26-2021 We DO know the long term effects of these masks: NOT DYING or ending up with LIFE-LONG lung, heart, or brain problems. I had a nurse and nurse practitioner argue with me that we are going to see a wave of COPD cases because of what masks are doing to our oxygen levels. There’s no saving the world. Don’t worry, in the same conversation they went on to explain to me how the gallbladder is intimately involved in the digestion of protein. Re: More Michigan Covidiocy - deckeda - 04-26-2021 This has been a familiar story all over. Protect the kids, unless it interferes with my being able to go to work or to lead them into becoming responsible humans. No, a lot of the time parents most certainly do NOT know best. Re: More Michigan Covidiocy - Speedy - 04-26-2021 I’m not up on what Michigan has for restrictions. Masks in commercial buildings, limited indoor dining, etc.? Or did the legislature wrest control from the governor and open the state? Re: More Michigan Covidiocy - S. Pupp - 04-26-2021 p8712 wrote: I don't know whether to laugh or cry. And we wonder why the third leading cause of death is the third leading cause of death. |
