Today's perfect Wordle.... - Buzz - 02-27-2023

....and it's followed by WordleBot's add'l commentary.

OK, so I started today’s Wordle w/ “TARSE”, one of my faves, and got 3 greens at the end. That left the following possibles:

.
These are those six possibles that were left.....

CURSE”, “HORSE”, “NURSE”, “PURSE”, “VERSE”, and “WORSE

Blogic then looked to cull as many unique identifier letters from those six words into the next word played that would generate the solve.

Blogic found that the “CU” from “CURSE”, the “HO” from “HORSE”, and the “P” from “PURSE” should do it, by nicely melding into POUCH.

POUCH” = “CURSE” w/ gold "UC"
POUCH” = “HORSE” w/ green "O" and gold "H"
POUCH” = “NURSE” w/ gold "U"
POUCH” = “PURSE” w/ green "P" and gold "U"
POUCH” = “VERSE” w/ no colored letters
POUCH” = “WORSE” w/ green "O"

and here's WordleBot's take on the sitch.....

Except that WordleBot's solution didn't preclude "HORSE" as a possible solve.
WordleBot coulda, shoulda, mighta used "PORCH" instead of "MOURN" in hindsight.

BTW, "TARSE" took over as my favorite starting word, from its "RATES" (and "TARES") anagrams.....,
since/when Wordle purged its plural words shortly before Thanksgiving.
My last plug for "RATES" to start Wordles was just a couple of weeks before they pulled the plug on plurals.

WordleBot often frustrates me. As a retired database guy, I've mentally designed a better WordleBot, so when the real NYT WordleBot spews a logical error that my mental WordleBot wouldn't have, it makes me wanna eat junk food, or at least ice cream or chocolate.
Today we agreed, so the freezer is safe until tomorrow. Not sure about the candy bowl.

But you eliminated the H with POUCH, so how could HORSE still be a solution?

Re: Today's perfect Wordle.... - TheCaber - 02-28-2023

...as opposed to STARE ?

VIDEO and AUDIO have fallen out of favor? is ADIEU still allowed?

Buzz eliminated HORSE with POUCH, but the Wordlebot never played a word that specifically eliminated H.

It took me four tries instead of three - I didn't get as lucky on my first guess as Buzz did:

Opened with ADIEU this morning... will try TARSE tomorrow!

"But you eliminated the H with POUCH, so how could HORSE still be a solution?"

That was for NYT's WordleBot, he didn't eliminate HORSE when he used MOURN as his second word; he narrowed the solve to said HORSE, or WORSE.

"...as opposed to STARE ?"

"STARE" is one of my faves, and I still use it frequently to start Wordles; after plurals were nixed, "RATES" and "TARES" became way less useful.

"VIDEO and AUDIO have fallen out of favor? is ADIEU still allowed?"

All still great words, especially towards a guaranteed solve, just not as good if/when going for a fastest possible logical solve.

"Opened with ADIEU this morning... will try TARSE tomorrow!"

I rotate regularly, though when I have a successful start one day (two, or 3 hits), I usually play it again the following day(s). Yesterday I started w/ "TARSE" and got a green "R" and gold "S", which I followed w/ "LUMPY" and snagged a gold "U", "P", and "Y", so the Vermont Maple sap derivative fell out on its own. It'll be a rare Threepeat™ for "TARSE" mañana for me to start with, too. "STARE" was an amazingly too successful, w/ 4 hits, to beget "SWEAT" several days back, so I didn't press my luck, but "STARE" will make a comeback very soon.

And, of course, TASER ...

Re: Today's perfect Wordle.... - d4 - 02-28-2023

No love for ARISE? I like using the "H" in the second round.
Sometimes I feel WORDLE has jumped the shark with obscure words, but then they come back with a goodie. Not obscure and not too easy like, SYRUP.

RUDDY? Seriously?
