Does Apple offer a cheap upgrade for consumer software? - blusubaru - 03-21-2007 I want to go buy the current iWork suite, but if a new version is released with the new OS, is there a cheap upgrade path like there is for the FCP suite software? I suppose I should clarify that I would be buying with the student discount. I don't think there's an EDU version, so that shouldn't limit my upgrade ability. Re: Does Apple offer a cheap upgrade for consumer software? - Chupa Chupa - 03-21-2007 Nope. There is no upgrade path to iWorks or iLife. You have to buy the full version again. Re: Does Apple offer a cheap upgrade for consumer software? - jdc - 03-21-2007 there are edu versions of the iWorks suite, they are cheap, like $25-- my brother who is a teacher gets them Re: Does Apple offer a cheap upgrade for consumer software? - Ken Sp. - 03-21-2007 You could buy iWork 06, so that the next day iWork 07 will come out...take one for the team!!! Re: Does Apple offer a cheap upgrade for consumer software? - blusubaru - 03-21-2007 The current iWork edu discount prices the software at $49. We have a partnership with Apple. I'd be really surprised if it's cheaper than that, and then I'd buy two! ![]() Re: Does Apple offer a cheap upgrade for consumer software? - BigGuynRusty - 03-21-2007 [quote blusubaru]The current iWork edu discount prices the software at $49. Been several in the past. iWorks is a mere shadow of Claris/AppleWorks. Wish Apple would update it, I still use it to this day, it is old, but still better then iWorks. Keynote is wonderful for for much more than presentations. It is great for pHoto slide shows and there are more effects than in iMovie. ....and this is from a guy that hated the day they ended Claris HomePage. More info is at Http://www.Empowermac.com and click on handouts for pages and keynote Re: Does Apple offer a cheap upgrade for consumer software? - BigGuynRusty - 03-21-2007 [quote Ken Sp.]BGnR-There are some very powerful features buried in Pages and Keynote. More info is at Http://www.Empowermac.com and click on handouts for pages and keynote I own iWork, it is powerful, but I don't need the slideshows and effects, I need a strong integrated program that allows me to do fairly precise drawings with integrated text, and the ability to do calculations. I do a large amount of layout drawings, system designs, schematics and white papers with technical drawings. Nothing beats the integration. I was hoping that iWork would do that. Maybe in a few years. BGnR Re: Does Apple offer a cheap upgrade for consumer software? - MikeF - 03-21-2007 I concur that there is a dearth of "word processors" geared more toward technical manuals... Work forces everyone to use MS Office and half the time you fight the tool to get the job done. Re: Does Apple offer a cheap upgrade for consumer software? - Racer X - 03-22-2007 It's really rude of you to point out flaws in a M$ product Mike. My grandma says if you can't say anything nice about somebody, don't say anything at all. That's why I never talk about "them". |
